North
Luang Namtha
About Laungnamtha: The province is mountainous, home to a large number of minorities (over 17 ethnic minorities).
To Do: You can take trekking at Nam Ha National Biodiversity Conservation Area. Or you can take a drive and discover this mountainous province independently.

Hongsa
About Hongsa: Hongsa is a quiet place with a long tradition of elephant training.
To Do: Elephant riding in the forest and rice field landscape. Every year, The association Elefantasia organizes a festival dedicated to this giant animal, symbol of Laos.
How to go there: 3 Hours of Magical drive from Xayabouri through deep forest, remote montain villages, red-dirt roads.

Phonsavanh
About Phonsavanh: Phonsavanh is well known for 2 main reasons. First, it is the location of the world famous Plain of Jars site, where thousands of ancient stone-made jars are displayed, in three different sites, around town. Second, this region has been severely bombed by the US Army during the Vietnam War and many bomb craters could be seen all around the place. Driving around, you should see lots of cluster bomb shells used to make pillars, fences or even… ashtrays.
To Do: The high light of your trip in Phonsavanh is to visit Plain of Jars, or take fishing at Nong Tang Lake or simply relaxing in hot spring bath.
How to go there: 9 Hours from Vientiane of curved and panoramic roads.

Luang Prabang
About Luang Prabang: Former capital of Laos, Luang Prabang is classified as UNESCO World Heritage for its colonial architecture and athmosphere.
To Do: Walk around town to visit Royal Palace, Vat Xieng Thong, Phu Si hill. Boat trip to Pak Ou cave. Relax and refresh at Kuangsi waterfall. Or simply have a cocktail on the Mekong river side at sunset.
How to go there: 9 Hours of scenic drive through mountains and small villages.

Nong Khiaw
About Nong Khiaw: Lovely river side town surrounded by mountains.
To Do: Kayaking, trekking, walking around.
How to go there: : From Laungprabang it take only 3-4 hours by the road, or 6-7 hours by boat.
Udomxay
About Udomxay: The biggest city in northern of Laos, surrounded by the green mountains.
To Do: Take over night with Khamu families, they are very happy to welcoming the foreigner. Or you can try hot springs there.
How to go there: Lao Airline fly from and to Vientiane 3 times a week. by the location that surrounded by high mountain, so getting there by road is limited there are daily buses from Veintaine, Laungprabang, and Pak Beng.
